How long does counseling take?

Per session

Each session is approximately 50 minutes long.

 

However, due to intake documentation requirements the first session may be slightly longer.

The length of counseling can be different for each person for a variety of different reasons.

Factors that influence the length of counseling

  • Commitment of client to counseling services

  • Consistency of implementation of information and tools being learned

  • Issues being addressed

  • Length of time issues have been present

  • Insurance/EAP authorization

How much does counseling cost?

For Private Pay

The cost for the first session is $230.

The cost for all following sessions is $200 per session.

Any time over the scheduled session time will be billed at a prorated rate.

For Insurance/EAP

Each session is approximately 50 minutes long.

 

The cost is different for each client based on their individual insurance/EAP benefits.

What is Mental Health First Aid?

Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based curriculum that is included in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices.

 

This training curriculum has been proven to reduce social distance created by negative attitudes and perceptions of individuals with mental illnesses.

 

It also educates individuals on how to identify and interact with persons experiencing mental distress by training them to identify signs, symptoms and risk factors of mental illnesses and addictions.

 

The curriculum also increases their knowledge of appropriate referrals and resources as well as increases knowledge of personal mental wellness.
